Guide to Amazon Prime Day Deals for Doctors

Updated: 3 days ago

Every year we get questions in our online physician community about what everyone has on their radar for Amazon Prime Day. We aren’t huge fans of buying just to buy during a promotion (regardless of where), so we like to encourage being intentional during sales. There are certain products that are always hits on our communities and/or mentioned on these days, and promotional periods offer an excuse to splurge on something you’ve been wanting that is on sale,  so we thought we’d compile a list of our community favorites that are often included during these promos. We’ll continue to update this page with new favorite recommendations we see. Below, explore our Doctor’s Guide to Amazon Prime Day broken down by the most commonly requested categories.

Physician Side Gigs guide to Amazon Prime Day with member favorites from our online doctor's lounge

PSG Recommended Household Goods and Gadgets

Electronics are often where people score the biggest deals, so not surprisingly, this is a popular question. These are the gadgets we see asked about the most on Prime Day in our communities, that tend to be featured and have had significant sales on past Prime Days:

  • Roborock - our members very often ask about vacuums, and Roborock is a favorite and has been a featured deal for many Prime Days. As a side note, their official website typically offers the same best pricing available elsewhere, including Amazon sales, and PSG members can receive exclusive member discounts. Head to our online physician Facebook groups for our exclusive promo code.

  • Apple Watches - self explanatory - a staple in many Apple families these days

  • Portable speakers - whether for your OR, vacation, or pool, we often see people saying they bought speakers during Prime day - some favorites are the Ultimate Ears Boom Speaker (I have this one personally and love it!) or if the larger JBL party speakers

PSG Member Travel Must Haves on Prime Day

We have some of our PSG member favorites on our travel perks and recommendations page. Highlighting a few we commonly recommend on Prime Day, as they often offer discounts:

  • Apple Air Tags. These aren’t always on sale for Prime Day, but have been in the past. Snag a few if they are. Whether you’re worried about your bags missing a connecting flight, or someone accidentally mixing up your plain black suitcase with theirs, these can help you track your baggage throughout your travels (and can keep track of other things you need to keep track of, like keys, even when you’re not traveling!). Life/vacation savers for sure.

  • Travel cube organizers. An absolute gamechanger for your luggage and your sanity when packing, both before a trip and while traveling. If you haven’t tried these yet, snag a set today. These are the ones we have, which often go on sale for Prime Day.

  • EltaMD Tinted Sunscreen. While this brand is on the pricier side, it’s consistently mentioned by the dermatologists and plastic surgeons in the group, and often goes on sale during Prime Day.

PSG Recommended Books for Amazon Prime Day Deals

We’ve compiled a more comprehensive list of recommended reads for physicians that covers everything from entrepreneurship, investing, member authored books, and our physicians’ favorite fiction reads. For Prime Day, we’ve condensed this down to some of the most commonly recommended books by us and others on community threads.

If any of these reads aren’t currently on sale, see if Amazon is running a current promotion on Audible subscriptions for audiobooks. We often see their best promos of the year for Prime Day.

  • Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss. Our favorite negotiation strategy book. We mention this book all the time in the context of contract negotiations (but really these skills help in all parts of life), and it’s one of my favorite gifts to give to doctors.

  • Atomic Habits by James Clear - A classic book that helps you create more time in a day, especially for those trying to balance doctoring, family life, and side gigs

PSG Recommendations for Board Games this Prime Day

Prime Day almost always has board games for sale, and we often stock up for ourselves and for gifting during it. Maybe not surprisingly, physicians love board games and these threads are always popular in the physician communities. We’ve previously compiled a list of favorite board games from our Physician Community group. We’ve seen these ones on sale on Prime Day before (and even if they’re not on sale, check them out!):

  • Codenames. Consistently mentioned in our community as a household favorite. Splits you into two teams for a fun experience that’s both cooperative and competitive. There are several versions available, including the duet version for two players if you want to play with a significant other for a date night.

  • Catan. Mix of strategy and luck. Staple in the board game aficionado world. 3-4 players with the base game, up to 6 with expansion packs (and there are several fun ones to choose from).

  • Azul. Strategy based game for 2-4 players. Pretty easy to learn, which makes it great for new players.

  • Monopoly Deal - favorite amongst couples, friends, etc. - this is one we always travel with. It’s a strategic ~10 minute card game version of Monopoly that’s sure to bring out the competitive spirit.

  • Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza: Great family game for those with younger kids - super reasonably priced and one that shows up on every thread.

Side Gig Supply List

If you’re interested in creating live or recorded content for your influencer side gig (such as social media videos or reels, a podcast, an online course, etc.), or a side gig that requires a virtual meeting, such as telemedicine or coaching, we have some favorite equipment to help you get started. These particular ones might not be on sale, but can give you an idea of the level of tech to look for in other products offering Prime Day deals:

  • Yeti microphone. I use and like this high quality microphone that can be great for the variety of side gigs mentioned above. It offers multiple audio pickup pattern options, which can provide crisp audio without background noise, reducing the amount of equipment you need.

  • Logitech webcam. Another favorite of mine. This webcam offers a small, slim profile that fits on your laptop or monitor. It’s easy to set up so you can start doing virtual calls or recording video for your side gig without having to deal with complex software.

  • Neewer ring light. This is the specific one I have. It’s honestly probably outdated by this point, but there are a lot of different sizes. Some can offer more stability than others. Hopefully this can give you an idea of what type of lighting source to look for depending on your recording needs.

Conclusion

We hope the above can help guide you if you’re feeling the itch to get a good deal this Prime Day!  Happy shopping!
